The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Chula Vista Suns have moved to San Diego CA with a name change to the San Diego Suns. “Chula Vista has been a very strong ABA team for the past five years,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “Eric Brown, the team owner, decided to move to San Diego to have a bigger market and to give back more.”

“Our mission is two-fold,” added Brown. “To elevate the careers of our basketball players by providing unparalleled visibility and exposure and to extend our impact beyond the court by offering transformational services to the community, children and the military. For our players, we are more than a team, we are a launchpad for their professional basketball journey. We are committed to creating an environment that fosters growth, resilience and camaraderie.

In parallel, our commitment extends to making a positive impact off the court and we are proud to serve the children of the community by providing access to basketball programs, mentorship, and educational resources that instill values of teamwork, discipline and perseverance. We will also hold food drives, food giveaways and gas card giveaways for those in need. Additionally, we express our gratitude to the military community by offering support services – recognizing their sacrifices and dedication to our country. We are excited about this move and thank the people of Chula Vista for their support these past five years.”
