The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that its 2022-2023 Final Eight Tournament will be held in Atlanta GA April 13-15, “We are very excited to be heading to Atlanta,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman.  “We have several ABA teams there and the Southeast Division is one of the strongest in the ABA.”
“It was a difficult decision as we had many great options for the host city,” added Damon Cannon, Director of the Final Eight Selection Committee.  “After two years of pared-down Covid finals, we plan to make this year’s tournament something really special and will include an All-Star Game, skills competition, League Awards, entertainment and more.  And the entire weekend will be telecast on ABAGALE – The ABA TV Network that will be launching this season and available on Roku in over 60 million homes and internationally too.”
The Final Eight Tournament consists of the top teams in the eight ABA divisions – Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, Southeast, South Central, North Central, Midwest, Pacific North and Pacific South.  Over 150 teams will be competing in a series of play-in rounds to determine the winners of each division.  The NBA has recently announced that it will adopt a play-in series to determine its finalists using the ABA model.  The ABA season begins in early November and extends to early March preceding its play-in rounds.  The Steel City Yellow Jackets are the defending ABA Champions having unseated the former ABA Champion Jacksonville Giants in an exciting final game in April.  For more information, contact Damon Cannon at 314 497 7851 or email dcannon2010@gmail.com.
