The inaugural launch of the ABA’s Global Black History Museum recently took place in Tucson, AZ. This historical event was led by Dr. Jatai Gonder and Dr. Clyde Rivers of the Executive Committee for the ABA Global Black History Museum. The museum was created to bring honor and recognition to everyday people in the black community that have exemplified leadership for the betterment of all in the community. “These individuals are leaders of Civility for all,” Dr. Rivers stated in his presentation and a special acknowledgement to ABA CEO Joe Newman for his continuous effort to empower our black community. The ABA has been a beacon of Hope as the world’s largest professional sports league that empowers minority ownership in professional sports.”

Dr. Jatai Gonder, the owner of he Tucson Buckets, an ABA team, led the Induction Service for the community of Tucson. Dr. Clyde Rivers, World Civility Leader and President and Founder of I Change Nations gave the keynote presentation for the induction. Reminding the people of the greatness of the ABA, which started in 1967, Dr. Rivers spoke of the great basketball players with the likes of heroes of the ABA, Dr. J Julius Erving and other heroes like George “The Iceman” Gervin and David Thompson to name a few. “We stand on the shoulders of those that have gone before us,” Dr. Rivers stated.” “They and so many others deserve a place in history and that’s what the ABA’s Global Black History Museum provides.” The event inducted over 40 individuals and leaders that have served the community of Tucson with excellence. Dr. Gonder called the inductees the heroes of Tucson. The theme of the ABA’s Global Black History Museum is to elevate and recognize the global impact of leaders in black communities bringing civility around the world. This is the beginning of a new era of Black History bringing Civility for all to the world. Additional events are currently planned for Las Vegas and Phoenix.
