The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced the formation of ABA Jump Start, a minority business incubator. “If I only had the capital, I know I could be successful in business.” Those words have been said by so many minority entrepreneurs with drive and determination only to have their dream of ownership delayed because of the lack of money to start,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “The ABA is the largest professional sports league in the US and the most diversified with 75% of its owners being African-American, Hispanic, Asian, Native American and women and has created a business incubator backed by cryptocurrency (www.abagoldcoin.com), NFTs, grants, donations, corporate sponsorships and promotions to help fund these talented and ambitious minorities.
LaDonna Smith and David Rose have been named Co-Chairpersons of ABA Jump Start. Mrs. Smith is owner of the ABA PG Valor professional basketball team, published author, owns her own book publishing company; producer of multiple radio shows; former President of Maryland Writer’s Assn; Board of Directors of Black Writers’ Guild of MD; an accomplished musician who has performed at the John. F. Kennedy Center in Washington DC; received her Mental Health First Aid Certification from the State of MD; a member of MD Business Roundtable Speakers’ Bureau and currently is employed with the Prince George County Memorial System. Mr. Rose is President/CEO of Global Marketing Concepts specializing in business development and marketing strategy. His background is in automobile sales and management and he was former owner of auto sales and leasing companies.
