The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Cedar Rapids Roadrunners have been added
to its roster of teams beginning in November 2023.  “We are very excited about having our first team in Iowa,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “And in Bruce Adams we have the perfect owner to lead expansion there. I have no doubt that this will be a very successful team.”
With over 30 years in sales & marketing, 6 1/2 years as a newspaper writer, Adams was both an enlisted member and an Officer in the US Air Force, is the Commander of the local American Legion Post and started and runs a Veterans’ non-profit, The team should make a great impact on the city.  “I’ll spend this coming season visiting other teams, attending some games, and learning everything I can about running a successful ABA team,” added Adams.  “We’re already close to securing an arena and are working on the set-up process of starting the team. It’s an exciting opportunity and it’s great to have an Iowa team in the ABA.  Looking forward to meeting and working
with others in the league.”
The Roadrunners will be in the Midwest Division.
