The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the CTX Assassins located in Temple, TX have joined the league and will begin play in November. “We are very pleased to welcome Melanie Jackson, a seasoned entrepreneur and businesswomen as part of the ABA,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “Her affinity for basketball was fostered through her father’s involvement in the sport as a player, coach and referee. We know she’ll do a great job.”
With over 15 years of experience in business and property management, Ms. Jackson also possesses a background in marketing, advertising and human resources. Originally from the Washington metro area, she was raised as a military brat and served in the military having lived in various locations worldwide, including Japan, Hawaii, California, Louisiana and other states ultimately making Central Texas her home. Currently residing in a prominent military area, Ms. Jackson is eager to enhance professional basketball entertainment in the area. “We aim to partner with local military teams, schools, first responders and veterans organizations to positively impact the community and provide enjoyable experiences for all ages,” added Ms. Jackson. “We are dedicated to community engagement and philanthropy.”
The CTX Assassins will also foster a sense of brotherhood within the community, serve as mentors, offer basketball clinics, host tournaments, provide halftime entertainment and create a platform for local artists to perform. Additionally, they will provide athletes with the opportunity to showcase their talent in the ABA, continue to develop their skills, gain experience playing professionally and potentially secure opportunities to play internationally or pursue other pro basketball opportunities.
