Welcome the Edgewood 96ers to the ABA’s record expansion
The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Edgewood 96ers located in South Carolina has joined the ABA and plans to play a limited schedule of games starting in January. “We’re very excited about having James Hemphill and the 96ers in the ABA,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “James has a lot of experience and we know he is going to be a great addition to the ABA.”
James Hemphill is Head Coach of girls’ basketball at Greenwood High School, has been involved in AAU basketball for 10 years and has been Chairman of an area 501c3 not-for-profit since 2015. “This is something I’ve wanted to do for several years,” added Hemphill. “Bringing professional basketball to the area is long overdue and the ABA is the perfect league especially with our own TV channel on ABAGALE TV (www.abagaleunlimited.com) which reaches over 70 million homes on Roku and other streaming devices. Exciting professional basketball at affordable prices and we have some great players in the area too that can certainly compete.”
