It saddens me to announce the passing of Ross Kurland, one of the mainstays of the ABA for nearly 15 years. Ross has been battling cancer and other serious ailments for several years including long stays in the hospital. He fell, hit his head, suffered two strokes and the doctors could not save him. Not only did Ross own several teams in the ABA, but he helped recruit nearly a dozen expansion teams through the years, served as a mentor to many ABA teams and was a part of the ABA executive team. Ross played basketball in competitive leagues into his 70’s and was a distinguished Army veteran who served in Korea. A good man, a close friend and ABA through and through. We’ll miss Ross. He joins Ralph, Ron and Chris as ABA owners we’ve lost. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. So sad. Rest in peace Ross. God bless you.
