The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Vermont Coyotes will begin play in 2025 as they bring ABA basketball back to Barre, VT, the former home of the Vermont Frost Heaves, where team owner Anthony Marques was a staff member under head coach Jeff Strohm. “We are very excited to be back in Barre,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “The community really supported the ABA well before and I know that under the leadership of Anthony it will again. This team should be a great success on and off the court.”
Following his tenure with the Frost Heaves, Marques took what he learned and went into fulltime skills development working with players at every level, from NBA players to the top 5th thru 8th graders in the US. In 2012, international skills trainer Micah Lancaster recruited him to be a regional trainer and then an NBA skills trainer for his training program, I’m Possible Training. In 2014, he left for the opportunity to start his own program, One Dream Elite, that offered international basketball camps worldwide. He also played professionally overseas as well as a year in the ABA. In 2017, Marques founded Invisible Productions, a media production company, whose slogan Begr8te captures his appreciation for his favorite player, Kobe Bryant.
“My experiences helped me learn that there is more to basketball than dribbling one,” added Marques. “I learned about the business side of the game and the attention to detail that is required to build a high quality basketball product on the court and an organization that serves the community off the court. The Frost Heaves showed me that the game starts long before tip off and the most prepared team wins – on and off the court.”
