The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Gary Black Panthers have been added to the roster of teams that will begin play in November. “This should be very interesting indeed,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “Dr. Veronica Gaffney and her husband Jason will own two ABA teams, the Gary Black Panthers and the Milwaukee Black Mambas, both in the same division; it should be quite a rivalry as both a super capable experienced people.”

Jason Gaffney was born and raised in Gary & Merrillville IN and attended Merrillville High School where he excelled in football and wrestling prior to receiving a degree in Human Services from Ivy Tech College. He has worked as a Direct Service Provider for people with disabilities and senior caring; in the Lake County Juvenile Detention Center and Wessville Correctional Facility. He is now one of the owners of Healing Homes, Watch Out Sandwiches and BBQA and Watch Out Beverages and Bakery. “Our vision is to provide a safe environment for young men to be able to play and enjoy the game of basketball,” added Gaffney. “Veronica and I know what it will take to be two of the premier teams in the ABA and are very excited about the challenge.”
