The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Alabama Smoke has been added to the growing roster of teams set to begin play in November 2023. “This is another example of a former ABA player moving into ownership,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman.  “It is always exciting when one of own players continues his basketball career as a team owner and we have quite a few players who have done just that.”

In addition to playing in the ABA, Eddie Ishman played professionally internationally after playing college basketball at Miles College.  “I want to thank the ABA for giving me the opportunity to join the ABA so that I could start a team and give back to the people of Eutaw AL where I was raised.”  The Alabama Smoke will be part of the ABA’s Southeast Division but will also play teams in the Midwest Division.  For more information, email [email protected]
