The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Granite City Devil Dogs located in NE Georgia have been added to the record-setting number of teams preparing to begin play in November. “We are very pleased to have John and Katherine (Kate) Curlee as part of the ABA,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “They both have terrific backgrounds that will have impact on and off the court.”

John Curlee was a 26-year Army veteran who served in Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan before becoming a veteran police officer and school resource officer and owning his own construction company. Kate is a business owner who operates Cat House Coffee LLC, a mortgage business, a para-professional with the local school district and an artist.

“This is more than just a team,” added Curlee. “We will build, create and grow and provide opportunities for our communities and businesses. We will grow hope and pride for the region of rural NE Georgia and are proud to be a part of the ABA.”
