The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that the Stone Mountain Strong Steppers have been added to the record-setting number of expansion teams that will begin playing when the league resumes in November. “We are very pleased to have Darrell Cole as a new owner in our powerful Southeast Region,” stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “Darrell has always strived to positively impact his community which led to the creation of the Strong Steppers and his entry into the league. I know he will do well.”

Born in NY and currently residing in Stone Mountain, Darrell is a master barber, community mentor and a spirited sports team owner. A proud alumnus of Roosevelt HS on Long Island and former student of Hampton Institute, Darrel chose the craft of barbering in 1989 and has since been an enduring pillar of the community. Darrell sees his team “as a platform for young men to dream big and achieve their goals, both on and off the court.”

From 2008-2020, Darrell channeled his love for music into promoting local showcases, creating a vibrant cultural environment within the community and his philanthropic spirit extends beyond the public sphere. “I am really looking forward to the challenge,” added Cole. “We will give it our best on and off the court.”
