The American Basketball Association (ABA) today announced that Diamond Murvee Anderson, Jr has been named President of ABA Liberia, the league’s first expansion on the continent of Africa as part of its ABA International initiative.

“We are very excited about having Diamond as part of the ABA and our expansion into Africa is something we have been wanting to do for years,”:stated ABA CEO Joe Newman. “Diamond brings with him tremendous experience in basketball and business in Liberia and I know that he will be able to establish a strong foothold there.”

Diamond is Commissioner of Basketball Team LBA (Liberia Basketball Association), is a 3rd year law student at Louis Arthur School of Law, University of Liberia and Chief of Staffs of House of Representatives, District #6, Bong Count.  He is a citizen of Liberia.

“I cannot tell you how excited I am to be a part of this great international initiative that the ABA has undertaken,”

added Anderson.  “Basketball is very important here and is growing rapidly, having an ABA professional league in Liberia should be something very special.  My first goal is to put together at least four teams to compete on a limited schedule with one another.  And I’ll make it easier to own and operate an ABA Liberia team than any other too.”
